چکیده

In this 21st century, various materials like metals, alloys, and composites are available for different industrial applications. Composite gaining popularity due to their enhanced mechanical properties over other materials. However, continuous improvement in the of these materials, research groups constantly inVolved it. paper, focus is review hardness, tensile strength, flexural impact strength along with surface characteristics wear resistance AMMC’s. As per literature, liquid state processing more popular than solid-state better dispersion reinforcement particles matrix Stir casting mostly used method because its ease overall low cost production. It has been noticed that AMMC’s can be improved by adding small percentages (usually 0.5-20%). observed ranges from 38-99.6 HV, 100-478 MPa, 199.52-430 MPa respectively. This paper also included influence working parameters on rate loss generally varies 0.0050-0.004 g. The a crucial parameter study aerospace automotive applications it value 3.6-38 J.

DRY SLIDING WEAR BEHAVIOUR OF STIR CAST LM 25/ZrO2 METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES

In the present study, an investigation into wear properties has been carried out to identify the influence of ZrO2 as the reinforcement material on the LM25 MMC composite. Aluminum LM25 is selected as the base material, and it is reinforced with varying proportions of 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15% of zirconia (ZrO2) manufactured by stir casting. Six tensile test and wear test samples were prepared acc...

Microstructure and Mechanical properties of Multipass Friction Stir Processed Aluminum Silicon Carbide Metal Matrix

Abstrct :In this study, SiC particles were incorporated by using Friction Stir Processing (FSP) into the 6351 aluminium alloy to form particulate composite materials. Sampels were subjected to constant rotational and traverse speeds of the FSP tool with and without SiC reinforcements. Microstructural observations were carried out by employing optical microscopy of the modifiedsurfaces. Mechanic...

Experimental Investigations on Microstructural and Mechanical Behavior of Friction Stir Welded Aluminum Matrix Composite

The welding of materials by applying Friction Stir Welding technique is a new solid-state joining technique. The main advantage of this method compared to the traditional joining process is that it minimizes problem-related to metal resolidification as the method incorporates no melting phase. In this experimental work, the effect of friction stir welding (FSW) technique on the microstructu...

EFFECTS OF ELEVATED TEMPERATURE ON MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF AN ALUMINUM METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE

Effects of temperature on properties and behavior of a 20 vol % particulate SiC reinforced 6061 aluminum alloy and 6061 unreinforced Al alloy were investigated. Yield strength and elongation to failure were measured as a function of test temperatures up to 180^oC. In addition, the effects of holding time at 180^ oC on tensile properties and fracture mechanisms of the materials at this temperatu...
